If you like exploring the fancy shopping and dining spots in Shanghai, you’re going to love Line 10! It’s going to pass by Yuyuan Garden, Xintiandi, and East Nanjing Road. So, in the words of a friend, “Help yourself in the ridiculously expensive shops.” Haha.
Anyway, when I heard my classmate gushing about the trial operation of Line 10, I thought–what about the World Expo? How do I get there using the subway?! [See, that's how my mind connects stuff.]
Now Line 13 will be the special World Expo subway line. The stops are (from north to south) Danshui Road Station, Madang Road Station, Lupu Bridge Station, World Expo Park Station, and Changqing Road Station. It links Line 10, 9, and 7 at Danshui Road, Madang Road, and Changqing Road. While Lupu Bridge Station only allows passengers to get off after passing the park area.
The best part is–IT IS FREE OF CHARGE FOR PEOPLE WITH THE EXPO ADMISSION TICKETS!!! [If you still don't have a ticket, well, go get one!]
However, I heard that Line 13 will close after the Expo is done with and will officially open when the line is completed by 2011.
THE ULTIMATE QUESTION IS: Other than Line 13, how do you go to the Expo site using the Shanghai Metro?!
I collated the following information in hopes of making life easier for you guys:

Hey, sumama ka nalang sa’min on May 2. I have an extra ticket. Game?
Sure! Why do you have an extra ticket?
Thanks for taking the time to put all of this information together … I do have a question. We are flying in on 7/28 … need to find a good quality hotel for that night … then we will be boarding a small ship to cruise the China Sea … going to Korea and Japan … We will have 2 & 1/2 days in Shanghai … First I want to know about getting from the Pudong Airport to a hotel in the city without having to walk too far with many bags! Then … the most reasonalbe way to get to the cruise ship docks? Can you assist with this? Thanks! Phil.
Hi Phillip,
Glad to help! First of all, where is your hotel located in Shanghai? Or you haven’t found one yet? If not, better check out http://travel.expotia.com/ to help you book a hotel here in Shanghai. They’re the official hotel reservation service provider of Expo 2010. Hotels might be sparse due to the World Expo.
Let me know!
hi!
I’m going to Shanghai this weekend and i was wondering what you meant if you had a expo ticket, metro is free? or only line 13?
And how does it work? you just show the people your ticket in the subway?
Thanks :)
Hi Amanda,
Only line 13. It is accessible to all going to the Expo. Other than that, there are a whole lot more ways of going to the Expo. Here is our super Expo transportation guide for your reference.
