Stephen Kovats is now on. Speech is on Deep Europe. This speech will be delivered in English. Translator on hand.
Invited by @isaac. “Art as Process”. Is that @thecarol doing translations or someone else? Applause going on in other room. “Thank you!”
Transmediale.09 – festival for art and digital culture – Berlin, Jan 28 – Feb 1, 2009. Happens every year in Berlin, Germany. For Stephen blogging is a phenomenon. It’s not the same kind of cultural model or structure as it is in China.
ZSS: Translator in Area A getting a lot of eyeballs; calling for those in Area B to come on over and take a look.
In China, blog has become an important media; can do communications; unite and discuss topics of mutual interest. Nicola Tesla mentioned. He dreamed of a world where all the energy is something we just take from the air.
Free energy, free communications, free access
ZSS wants to see the lady translator more (this is to the Netease livecast streamer). (This happens quite a bit in China. It’s a bit unfortunate that the text in red is hard to see with the lighting as we have right now. Points to messages and ZSS.
Mentioning electricity as the Soviet Union was established. (David: A bit electrifying if you think about this.)
Lenin declares: C0mmun1sm has electrified s0cialism; it’s better than s0cialism. The translator did not interpret the word c0mmun1sm. Local harmonization. Linguistic harmonization.
Translator getting hammered by both the tweetstream and the ZSS (Zuosa stream). Things aren’t working too great, sadly.
ARPANET! We’re going back to 1969. Arpanet started from the US military and universities; is now the present-day Internet. Information redundancy is what we use to keep our flow of information open. Handshake — rather cliché pic of people handshaking as a silhouette against a World map. Now mentions Ostranemie Festival — Bauhaus Dessau, 1993-1999. Made this project called Handshake. Handshake to use “Internet thing”; to open up the festival and to make anyone in the world a participant. Once again: Transmediale.09, festival for art and digital culture, Berlin Jan 28 – Feb 1, 2009. About 250 people to come.
Workshops and exhibitions to be part of Transmediale 09. Art / tech / societal transformation.
They’ve hacktivists and hacked open books for preview on the site. They could, in fact, download an entire book! Of course, they never paid for this. Amazon stuck this online in bits and pieces. Interestingly this book was called “STEAL THIS BOOK”; they stole the book, printed it and stuck it in an incubator. Then they got sued! Amazon lost!
Thank you Stephen Kovats!
